We are currently hiring a full-time manager for our Coquitlam café. Our long time manager is heading back to school so we're looking for an experienced manager to join our team.

Caffe Divano has been a Coquitlam City Centre staple since 1999 (though originally was called Cornerstone Café) and is one of three family run cafes that also operate in Port Moody & Burnaby. As a bakery café we take great pride in crafting quality specialty coffees and everything we serve is handmade from scratch. We bake fresh every morning with baked goods from our sister bakery, Gabi & Jules.

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate MUST:

  • Have at least ONE year of food and beverage management experience
  • Experience should include scheduling, labour budgeting, inventory management including ordering
  • Have a passion for customer service & enjoys getting to know regulars
  • Enjoy managing a diverse team with enthusiasm, compassion, and kindness
  • Have experience with food preparation
  • Have a valid drivers license
  • Understand that the café business is not a Monday-Friday 9-5 sort of gig so you’ll be open to working weekends and early mornings
  • Be looking for a long-term position that allows you to work autonomously and share in the success of the cafe

Our ideal candidate MAY have:

  • Experience crafting specialty coffee beverages on a semi-automatic espresso machine
  • Quick service / café experience

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The café manager is ultimately responsible for all day-to-day operations of the café including though not limited to guest experience, scheduling, inventory management, café maintenance. The manager will manage the café with the support of the owners and will work closely with our current manager to learn the ropes with the intention of taking over complete operations after a 3-6 month period.

In addition to the above, specific responsibilities include:

- upholding standards

  • learn and confidently know the Caffe Divano standards for quality and experience
  • ensuring all staff are serving drinks & food according to standards and are exemplifying excellent customer service
  • ensuring all health and safely protocols are followed by both staff and guests

- delegating daily positions for staff on shift

  • assigning additional duties as required (ie. cleaning duties)

- diligently managing inventory, completing orders and dealing with any supply shortages

- ensure that all staff arrive on time, in uniform and are ready to work

- acknowledge staff for any exemplary performance

- complete any disciplinary paperwork if necessary

- hiring / onboarding all new team members

- ensure that all customers are receiving excellent customer service

  • deal with any customer complaints/issues
  • do utmost to guarantee efficient service
  • all customers are greeted with a smile (even if our masks hide it)
  • all staff are endeavouring to learn customer’s names

- managing labour

  • complete schedule within the labour cost objectives
  • deal with any schedule issues (ie. staff calling in sick)
  • cut shifts when necessary / hitting labour targets

- enable effective communication with supervisors / shift leads / owners

- completing inventory counts appropriately

- maintain the café appearance, cleanliness standards and function and operation of all equipment

  • preventative maintenance is completed as required
